Brownstones Coffee Amityville sits on Merrick Road as a steady neighborhood spot where locals come for more than just a quick caffeine fix. This place blends the vibe of a cozy breakfast and brunch restaurant with the casual comfort of a coffee shop, making it a go-to for leisurely weekend mornings or laid-back midday meals.

The interior feels bright and open, with plenty of windows letting in daylight, creating a warm atmosphere that’s welcoming whether you’re dining solo with a laptop or catching up with friends over a weekend brunch. The decor leans classic and clean, avoiding fuss so the focus stays on the food and the easy-going mood of the room.

The menu leans into familiar breakfast and brunch favorites but with thoughtful twists — think French Toast Bites with Fresh Fruit for sharing, or hearty plates like the variety of Eggs Benedict options, including Smoked Salmon Benedict and Chorizo Benedict. For something a bit different, items like Chicken & Waffles or the Baltic Street Bruschetta Wrap stand out as savory highlights that balance the sweeter offerings. Coffee arrives as a craft in its own right, with choices like White Mocha, cappuccinos, and seasonal specials such as the Eggnog Latte or Pumpkin Spice Mimosa adding a little seasonal flair.

Visitors tend to arrive early on busy weekend mornings to avoid waits, as the spot draws a steady crowd. The space feels lively but not frantic, making it suitable for catching up on a book or having a relaxed brunch chat. Service is attentive without feeling rushed, and staff are responsive when tweaks or replacements are needed.

Parking can be a bit of a squeeze since the lot is shared among neighboring businesses, so it’s worth planning a little extra time if you’re driving. That said, once seated, the combination of freshly prepared dishes and well-made drinks provides a comfortable, satisfying experience where the flow of food and drink strikes a nice balance between comfort and creativity.

Best for: Brunch and breakfast lovers seeking a casual but polished experience, locals looking for a reliable spot to enjoy both classic and inventive dishes, and anyone who appreciates good coffee paired with a bright, airy setting.

Who will enjoy it most: Regulars who like to settle in with paper or digital menus and visitors who appreciate variety from sweet to savory options along with solid coffee craftsmanship.

When to visit: Early weekend mornings tend to offer quicker seating; otherwise, weekday mornings or afternoons are quieter and ideal for a relaxed pace.

Atmosphere: Bright, open, and casually inviting, with a buzz of conversation but enough space to feel unhurried.

Food is always great here... they usually have special dishes for the season's. Parking is difficult. The lot is not that big and several stores share it. Great place for some good food and some relaxation.

We arrived prior to the usual Saturday morning rush and were immediately seated at a small table in the center of the larger dining room area. I don’t know if paper menus are available but there’s a QR code on the table that directs customers to their online menu. I ordered the breakfast bowl and substituted scrambled eggs in place of the standard poached eggs. To my surprise it was still served with the hollandaise sauce. It tasted great with everything else in the bowl but it requires you to eat your potatoes quickly if you don’t like them mushy. I’d get the bowl again but would ask for the sauce on the side. The service was good. The only issue that we encountered was a 4% credit card fee that was automatically added to the bill. Normally businesses will ask if you’re paying with cash or card and adjust the price accordingly. Today I used a gift card and the credit card fee wasn’t removed. I pointed this out to our server and they apologized and gave me the difference in cash. Parking is often a problem in this shopping center, so plan accordingly.

Ok so I’m always late to the party. Brownstones Coffee has been at this Amityville location for as long as I can remember. Every time I pass by there is always a mob of people waiting for their turn to get seated. I always just said to myself, “it’s probably just some over priced niche place that doesn’t match the hype. Wow was I wrong!! We ordered regular coffee, amazing! We ordered avocado toast, topped with bruschetta and a balsamic glaze. Super delicious and healthy too. The other breakfast was eggs Benedict with “homemade” corned beef has with a side of breakfast potatoes. (That was my personal favorite). Don’t tease me with homemade corned beef hash! I’m always going to get it! The service was outstanding! Our server couldn’t do enough and she was a dead ringer for a well known actress. I’ll let you figure that out. The bill came and holy moly was I surprised again, this place is a steal for the wonderful food and the amount they provide! On the way out we picked up a pound of Brownstones coffee to make at home! Big thumbs up! Definitely going back!

Solid experience. I've been waiting to come here for awhile a they're always packed. Finally struck at a good time and walked right in. The decor is cool and classic, bright and open. Lots of windows. The staff was delightful. I had an issue with my breakfast burrito and they took it back and replaced it (honestly, they did more than what they even needed to do - I would've just taken the bacon that was missing on the side. Instead, they have a whole new plate! Kudos). My wife had the steak and eggs which was good and the coffee was tasty as well. Not bad, I would definitely visit again. Recommended.

Came in on a Tuesday afternoon and got a seat right away. I am a huge fan of eggs Benedict and had to try their classic Benedict. It was delicious, and not too heavy or hard to eat. The potatoes on the side were so good. My husband enjoyed his French toast bites and said they were very filling, the berries were super fresh. It was a great price for the portion! We will definitely be back for another brunch date soon.

I write reviews when they are impactful; negative or positive. My wife and I just had the best breakfast at Brownstones Coffee in Amityville. We went all out and ordered the Feast, French Toast Bites, and the Breakfast Scramble, and wow, everything was seriously delicious. Each dish had so much flavor, and you could tell it was all made with care. The vibe of the place is so nice—really warm and inviting, perfect for enjoying a meal together. Plus, the staff was super friendly. I also appreciated the portion sizes; they were just right—not too big, but enough to hit the spot without leaving us feeling stuffed. If you’re looking for a great breakfast spot, you’ve got to check out Brownstones Coffee. We’re already looking forward to going back and trying more of their tasty options!
